I've done a few more pieces for upcoming comic conventions. These are works in progress.

Harleen Quinzel

Here's another watercolor for the upcoming comic conventions.

New Popeye drawing

I started this drawing months ago and didn't know what to do with the background, so I put it aside. I'll be adding color to it, but this is the inked version.

EXCLUSIVE ART!!!

I did a watercolor painting exclusively for my upcoming comic book convention appearances!

10"x14" watercolor on watercolor paper, Monica Rambeau, aka Captain Marvel (the ORIGINAL female Captain Marvel!), aka Spectrum, aka Photon, and a couple other names. She has always been a favorite of mine. She was the first chairwoman of  The Avengers (or 2nd, after Wasp).

The image here doesn't do the painting justice, but you get the idea. I wanted to do a gentle style and a simple moment in a superhero's day: suiting up!

This will be available at the Great Lakes Comic Con in Warren, Michigan Feb. 25-26. NO prints made of this!

Comic Cons and Commission Art

It's been a LLOOOONG time since I've posted. Well, I've been busy. And I will continue to be busy, which is why I'm here.

I wanted to share some of the commission pieces I was hired to do:

I will also be in the Artist Alley of a couple comic book conventions in Michigan. The first is the GREAT LAKES COMIC CONVENTION at the Macomb Event Center in Warren, Michigan February 25-26.

You can view more info at the website HERE!

I will also be in the Artist Alley at the MIDLAND COMIC CON at the Midland Mall March 5th (it's a 2 day show but I will only be there the 1st day). Here's the LINK.

I'm going to have some new prints of my DC HEROES and VILLAINS (close to chronological order in terms of first appearances, but I would forget someone and add it later!). It's just like my MARVEL prints. These are the original b/w images before I colored them (I pencil, ink and color all by hand. NO digital, FYI).

These will be available (in color!) as prints at both conventions! I'm also doing some new art for the conventions, including this (the image here is a work in progress, but it's actually done):

$50 art

I have some artwork that range from 8 1/2"x11" to 11"x14"  for only $50 each drawing or painting. Contact me via email if interested at jasonnuttall@yahoo.com

ArtPrize 2021 Web App - Let's Play

This is how ArtPrize works this year! It's like a scavenger hunt: find a code, scan it, reward it to an artist. Watch the video to better understand. My entry number, by the way, is 69751 😁

Meet Me at the B.O.B.

So, I have a drawing entered in the international art contest ArtPrize. You can see my entry info here .

My drawing is a tribute to my favorite band, VAN HALEN, and is on display at the B.O.B. (Big Old Building), on display on the main floor in the H.O.M.E. (House Of Music and Entertainment).

The drawing is based on a photo by Ross Halfin.

The "voting" is changed from previous years. Before, you had to be IN the Grand Rapids area to vote for your favorite piece of artwork, and you'd use the ArtPrize app.

Now, it's more like a scavenger hunt, where guests go around ArtPrize and find QR codes, scan the codes, and some are monetary and some are monetary prizes that you can give to artists directly (through the app, that is). This does give artists a chance to get something rather than nothing. The artist with the most prizes given wins...something. I'm not quite sure. You can see how it all works HERE.

ALSO, the drawing is up for auction, and 100% goes to the artist. Here is the link to the auction site, which bidding starts September 16 and ends October 4th. Because this drawing means a lot to me, I have a a larger minimum bid than I would normally ask for a commission project of this size. Once the auction begins, I'll post a direct link.

If you live in or around Grand Rapids, please visit during ArtPrize, September 16-October 3rd, or know people who do,  please share this info with them! I can use all the help I can get!!

I might be at the B.O.B. one of the 3 weekends ArtPrize is taking place, but it's quite a distance, so I'm not sure. If I do, I'll post here.

Caricatures!!

 Just a friendly reminder:

I do caricatures, comic book and cartoon character s sketches for all sorts of events (in Michigan), like weddings, open houses/grad parties, birthdays, etc ! etc

Each sketch takes between 5 & 15 minutes (depending on the amount of people in the drawing). Contact me at Jasonnuttall@yahoo.com for more information. Below are some samples of caricatures:

Junior!

I haven't worked on this drawing for MONTHS, but I started it just after Sean Connery passed away. This is one of my favorite roles of his. He's my 2nd favorite actor, after Jack Nicholson.

Just put a couple hours into it today, and as you can see, not a lot of progress from March 2021.

Prints Available soon!

I don't usually have prints made of my artwork because I'm...well...cheap, but decided to make this series of drawings specifically to have prints made of them. I wanted to make a series of pictures of Marvel Heroes over time starting with the Silver Age of Marvel comics. It's somewhat chronological. I don't have EVERY hero, but I have the important ones and then some. I'm also working on Marvel Villains in the same fashion.

Marvel Hero Heads

I started a project that is inspired by the floating heads used on Marvel Comics covers through to the 2000s, specifically by John Byrne.

This series is kind of a history of Marvel heroes starting with the Silver Age, in (somewhat) chronological order. I have one page to do to finish the heroes. Then onto the VILLAINS (Oy, there are a lot!!)!!

I will have prints available for sale once the series is done.

I Yam What I Yam....Making wut I Wants

I am CONTINUING my Popeye series based on the live action 1980 movie starring Robin Williams. I started it about 12 years ago or more. Some were bought, many ruined in a flood.  But I'm going to show them here, starting with the most recent.
