This is a blog about myself, my art and my life. It may also include comments about comics, music, tv, movies, or whatever nonsense may come to mind. I must note that I have original art and prints available for sale, and I am also available for hire for commission work. Portraits can be a great gift, be it family, friends, or of someone's favorite singer or actor.

COOOONNNNN!!!!!!
I will have a table in the Artists' Alley at the Great Lakes Comic Con February 26 and 27th in Warren, Michigan at Macomb Community College. I will be there with my collaborator for VIETMIME Tim Schaiberger, promoting (and hopefully selling) our Graphic Novella of the Mime. It's more novel than graphic, to introduce the world to the Mime (and with our time constraints, the best way to go right now).
I will be doing sketches of Mime, caricatures, cartoon characters and super hero characters, as well as have some art prints to sell. You can find info on the convention here, including directions, featured guests, ticket prices ( $10 daily) and other information!
I might even have the variant cover issue of POPEYE Comics Classics I did for sale!

MIME COMING!!!
My comic partner Timothy G. Schaiberger and I are planning to be in the Artist Alley of the 2015 Great Lakes Comic Con this coming February to preview our story (created in 2004). For those of you who know us, you know what I'm referring to. I want it to be a bit of a surprise. HOWEVER, we still need to get it printed/published in time for the convention, AND we need to reserve our table ($$). We're trying a different format just to get our story and character out while I work on the comic book format version.
I am offering my services as a cartoonist/caricature artist to raise the funds needed to achieve this long-awaited dream of ours. You can contact me here if you'd like a sketch of your favorite cartoon or comic book character or a caricature drawn.

Still in progress...

After 4 years and alot of work, VIETMIME by Nutberger INK
....still isn't done. It's very frustrating for me because I'm analyzing the plot written by Tim Schaiberger, drawing, inking, lettering and designing the entire book, and I don't have alot of time with a 6year old, a 4year old and a 2 year old running around. AND, since this project isn't currently a money-making project, it takes a backseat to, well, everything else that makes immediate moolah. Our friends at Dark Elf Designs out of Flint, MI are willing to print the book for us, but the deadline is coming up.
Even if I get all the drawing done, I'm not a great inker. And if I can get that done, the whole lettering aspect is beyond my abilities. When I created the sequel to VIETMIME, "M.I.A. : Mime In Action" for my college class, I had a working computer and printer. I had Photoshop and Illustrator. I figured out ways to put fancy words in them thar word and thought bubbles by typing the words, cutting and pasting and spending 2 straight days doing it.
Every time I look at the work I've done on the graphic novel, I get excited and look forward to doing more, but I never get the time to do it. I'm sure there are easier ways to go about what I'm doing, but I don't have ANY money, a working computer, or time. But I have every intention of finishing this thing.

VIETMIME!! VIETMIME!!
.jpg)

Ok, I started working in a place in my hometown 3 years ago. I stumbled across an old friend working there. His name was, and if I'm correct, still is, Tim Schaiberger. We caught up and found that we both had families of our own and graduated, yada, yada.
A couple months into the job, Tim asked if I would be interested in drawing a graphic novel he had in mind to write about his father who was a medic in Vietnam. My first thought was "M.A.S.H." Different war, same idea, I thought. Being a wise ass, I said, "I kinda has been done. What if you put a mime in Vietnam?" We both froze and stared at each other.
A mime in Vietnam. Haven't heard of that before...
Since then, we have been brainstorming and collaberating and sketching, typing, inking, erasing, emailing like crazy. Because our individual schedules and lives, it's taken FAR longer to finish this project than we'd hoped. But it wasn't a top priority because it wasn't a paying job. Still isn't. But we still wanna finish it, and are VERY close. He and I are co-creators, he is the plotter and scripter and I am the co-scripter, penciler, inker, graphics and anything else art related. We have decided that our collaberative efforts would be named "Nutberger Ink (Nut for Nuttall, Berger for Schaiberger).
We will finish "Vietmime" soon. Very soon. At least the first issue. We figure it would run as a miniseries and put it together as a graphic novel.
It's action, comedy, and drama. It still tells of a medic nicknamed "Bacsi" (Vietnamese for "Little Doctor", or at least that's what Tim tells me) during the Tet Offensive. DISCLAIMER: We are NOT aiming for historical accuracy!! Parts of the story are taken from war tales Tim's dad would tell him before he passed. Most parts are just plain made up to make for a fun read.
If this sounds interesting to you, a story of a mime trapped in Vietnam during the Vietnam war, PLEASE COMMENT!!!! As soon as I have some decent scans of the artwork, I will post them.
Now, some of you might own a copy of the comic I did in college, "M.I.A.: Mime In Action". My instructor wanted me to do an original story, not one already worked on. So, I did the follow up to Vietmime, following the Mime some time after the original story during a new mission. That was written, drawn, inked and lettered by me. Tim was not a part of it, other being co-creator to the Mime. Which is why the story sucks. My writing is not quite as good as my drawing. Above is a page from "VIETMIME" and a flyer I started with our caricature I drew for promotion.
Wish us luck!
