EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK at new art!!

I love to draw mashups, especially involving Popeye. This isn't really a mashup, but more of a crossover. These are 2 of the 3 in this little miniseries. I tried my hand at computer coloring. The scans of the original art aren't great.

Once I get a copy of the this 1st drawing of Popeye and Olive, I'll hand color it, as well as the Joker one (I'm not big on digital art).

I'm An Outschool Teacher!!

I'm offering a UNIQUE online drawing class for kids!
I will be teaching at OUTSCHOOL, an online platform to offer classes to k-12 kids! I'm starting off teaching a class on HOW TO DRAW POPEYE AND OTHER CLASSIC CARTOONS!!
Right now it's only one class for ages 7-10 year olds, but I'll add more classes and sessions over time.

I still work my regular teaching job; OutSchool is a second job, basically. Please share to anyone you know in the WORLD who might have kids interested!

Silly Faces

As you may or may not know, I draw caricatures. I occasionally get commissioned to draw caricatures and sometimes hired to draw them at events. These are examples of commissioned drawings for Christmas. The colorized caricatures cost a little extra. The small bodies were requested by the client.

It ain't all real, ya know

I get into moods. Right now, I wanna do some cartooning. I've been drawing alot of Popeye and a little Groo. Working on realism sets a little tedious sometimes. So, this is what I did the last couple days. I'm planning on coloring them when I get the chance.

Update

I've been away for a bit. I've been teaching at the Midland Center For The Arts (where I'm scheduled to teach again in October if you have kids in the Midland area interested in drawing cartoons) and my internet is currently out at home, so I'm not online much anymore.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:
I know it's not common for people to write about applying for a job, but this is a job I've dreamt of my entire life and never imagined I'd get the opportunity to try out for it. Having said that, I have sent in example artwork in hopes to get the gig of artist for the upcoming POPEYE comic book being published by IDW Publishing next year! I didn't know they were even looking for the creative team, until a friend (who shall remain nameless to protect his innocence)wrote me that he thought I should give it a try and contact the editors. Let's just say that having this friend recommend that I try fot the gig is such a huge compliment and honor that if I don't get the job, I'll have the gratification that this man thought enough about me that he thought of me.
I sent the examples in (although the photography of the examples were crappy, and it may reflect poorly on me) 2 weeks ago and was written that I'll hear from the editor if they hear anything.
So, if you know the editors I'm referring to, maybe you can subtly suggest me?

Youth Cartooning Workshop by ME!!

I know it's short notice, but I'm doing a workshop for children on how to draw cartoons this Saturday, July 16th. There are 2 age groups and 2 times for the groups- 1-3 for ages 9-17 and 3:30-4:30 for ages 8 and under. It will be at Nuttall Art Studio in Downtown West Branch and all the kids need to bring is a pencil and eraser each, and some crayons. It's $7 per kid.
They'll learn how to draw starting with simple shapes, and finishing with an established cartoon character (like Bugs Bunny, Garfield, etc)
Tell yer friends and neighbors!

Aragones MADness

I just found some footage of Sergio Aragones during his "Cartooning with Sergio" segment of his exhibit at the Ojai Valley Museum. It got me nostalgic for my meeting him and Stan Sakai in 2007. I posted about that great day here .
Thank you, Eric, for posting your footage on Youtube, for those who could not make it to this great event at this great exhibit.
