inking Spider-Popeye

Coloring the Archies as the FF

I was inspired by the Archie artwork of Fernando Ruiz, a more recent Archie Comics artist, to do a little mashup of Archie's pals and the Fantastic Four (since The Thing is my favorite superhero character). I chose to film the coloring of the drawing. I used watercolor. I tried to speed it up so boredom wouldn't set in for viewers, but my abilities with technology are limited. Let me know what you think!

I DO have a YouTube channel that has videos of me drawing, painting, etc. in illustration and my portrait art.

Eugene the Jeep drawing to celebrate POPEYE's 90th!

Day 7 of the #2019Popeyechallenge of Eugene the Jeep

Much like the Stan Lee January long tribute, I created a drawing challenge in honor of Popeye's 90th anniversary (1/17/2019) and Olive Oyl's 100th anniversary (12/18/2019)!!!! Each day in January, up to and including January 17th, you draw a suggested Popeye character, post it on social media and tag it with #2019PopeyeChallenge and #Popeye90! It's a way to spread word about the celebration of these LEGENDS!!!!

I've filmed a few videos of me drawing some of characters. Day 1 was POOPDECK PAPPY!! Enjoy!

POPEYE'S 90!!!! Olive's 100!!! (well, December 18th, 2019)

Day 5 of #STANUARYLEE2019!!!

Continuing with the tribute to Stan Lee, STANuary Lee 2019, I've created a video of me coloring the drawing of Daredevil for the Day 5 challenge:

Stan Lee tribute, STANuary 2019 drawing challenge

Ok, so as most of the world knows, Stan Lee passed away in November, 2018. His 96th birthday was December 28th. To celebrate Stan Lee's work, someone created a drawing challenge online called STANUARY Lee. Each day of January, artists are to draw a designated Marvel character in honor of Stan Lee. For example: January 1st was Spider-Man, January 2nd was Kingpin. The 3rd day was Black Widow. I chose to draw her in the Archie Comics style. The video is of me inking the 2 I drew. Enjoy!

Drawing Miles

I just made a live streaming video where I'm drawing Miles Morales Spider-Man (by request).

Drawing Groo

I've made another video, this time I did a Live Facebook video. I decided to draw one of my all-time favorite characters, GROO THE WANDERER by the Great Sergio Aragones`!
I give a little history on everyone's favorite dullard swordsman, as
well as on Sergio and answer some questions by a viewer.

Enjoy!

Spiky Thing 12 7 18

It's another video, this time of my all-time superhero character The Thing

Drawing Popeye

In honor of Popeye creator's birthday December 8th, I did a little video of me drawing one of my all-time characters. Sorry, I can't figure out how to speed the video up, so any videos I post are going to be long. THIS one isn't too bad.

Wolverine, Psylocke, Jubilee

I'm trying to do more videos of drawing, 'cuz, why not?

FLASHBACK to Michigan Magazine Show 1819

I was interviewed in 2013 by Michigan Magazine's Barry Stutesman in my now-defunct art studio. At the 11:43 mark...

I have been continuing my "Heroes" series , specifically the Popeye part of it. This graphite drawing is a work in progress.

Short, but..

It's come to my attention that I will NOT be back as art teacher at the high school I've been the permanent sub for for the 2017--2018 school year.
I hope I didn't screw up too many students' art education or discourage any from art.
I've only ever wanted to inspire SOMEone.
But not to be a failure. I don't want to inspire by example THAT way.

It's been a while...

I know it's been a LOOOOONG time since I've posted. I've been busy.
I'm back in school to get my art teacher certification. I'm also teaching. And doing original artwork and occasionally a comic convention and caricatures.

I AM still available for commission artwork and caricatures for Michigan events. You can contact me at jasonnuttall@yahoo.comjasonnuttall@yahoo.com if interested (Valentine's Day IS coming up...)
