Comic Shops are for the Young People, too

This has always been my feeling: if you're a kid and there is a comic book store where you live, it is required of you to go to said comic shop! It's not just superhero books; they have funny books, cartoon books, books based on movies and TV shows, toys, cards, collectibles, posters, original art, games, and more! Donald Duck, Rick &Morty, Avengers, The Flash, Pokémon, Angry Birds, Groo, My Little Pony, X-Men, Sherlock, Popeye, The Walking Dead, Back to the Future, and so much more!
If you have a kid or kids, ages 6-19, take them into a comic book store! It won't hurt them or you!

Wind beneath some wings here!

I was doing caricatures the other day and I ran into a young lady whom I'd met before, years ago. She and I spoke as I drew and waited for people to show interest. She told me, to my surprise, that when we met (she in high school at the time, and I had judged the student art show she was in), that I had inspired her to be a better artist.
   That's what it's about.

First ArtPrize

After many years of shrinking away from entering ArtPrize, I decided to enter this year. I was under the impression that I would have the money to frame my artwork, travel to and from Grand Rapids (3 hour drive one way, which is a struggle right now) and lodging. After I officially enteted the competition, I found out the money I was planning on was not plausible and has left me in a lurch. I have also been told that those artists who do make it to the finals were artists who were with their artwork daily for weeks for the voting public to meet. I am a father of 3 working a part time job. I can't pay my bills, let alone get my artwork framed! It's because of these reasons that I started this funding campaign. Hero worship envy

Wouldn't it be great to be an inspiration to someone? Have someone look up to you? Your own kids don't count. They're forced to look up to you by default.

Dad

He always believed in my abilities. He always supported my choice to be an artist because he believed in my abilities.

Where I'll be next weekend!

I'll be in the Artist Alley at the Great Lakes Comic Convention at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan February 26 and February 27th, selling our book VIETMIME, doing Mime sketches, doing caricatures, cartoon and comic book characters, and enjoying the atmosphere ! Come visit! Our table, which will have a couple banners: one saying NutBerger Ink and the other saying Nuttall Art, is right on a corner section!
