Best of all worlds

So, Sammy Hagar has embarked on a new tour to celebrate and honor the music of Van Halen, as well as his career, and the careers of his band members, which right now consists of Michael Anthony of Van Halen, Jason Bonham, and Joe Satriani of Chickenfoot with Sammy and Michael Anthony. This friday, August 2nd, the "Best of All Worlds" tour is going to be hitting Pine Knob music theater in Clarkston michigan, where I and my brother will be going and taking artwork to hopefully give to Sammy and the band. I have not done this and a long time, because I didn't want to put my brother through that again. Since 1997, I've been taking artwork to concerts to try to give to musicians that I admire, and feel as though my brother and my wife have had to suffer through me trying to finagle a way to get backstage over get to the front of the crowd or get to security to try to get the artwork to the bands. So for the last almost 10 years I've given up on bringing artwork to musicians, and that includes Sammy Hagar. But my brother just kind of hinted the other week that the reason he gets tickets so close is so I could try to get artwork to the band on stage, which means that he's always intended for me to do that without actually saying anything! So this concert I'm going to try it again, which works because Van Halen is one of the biggest reasons I got in to music and Middle School, particularly the Sammy Hagar era because that's when I got into music was around the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album, which is my favorite album of all time, and not just favorite Van Halen album. We were lucky enough to see Van Halen in 1993 and twice in 1995, that's the last time we saw Van Halen. The 2004 tour was too expensive for us to go to, but we've seen all but maybe three Sammy solo tours if you include the Chickenfoot shows. Here are some of the pictures that I created for the band members. Wish me luck on giving these to them face to face!

Art for cons

I've been working on some artwork for the comic conversations I'm participating in.  My next show is in Flint at the Dort Financial Center in the Really Cool Comic Con . I'm also at the Bay City Comic Convention at the Bangor Township Hall in Bay City, Michigan.

Here are a few of my newer pieces:

"My Heroes" series on Exhibit!

I don't remember if I've mentioned it here yet, but I was told a couple of months ago that I will be having an exhibit Mount Pleasant, Michigan and in June of 2024 of my heroes series. These are two pieces that I'm working on the charcoal is basically done, the painting of Sergio Aragones  is not done yet. This series is made up of sub sections of some of my heroes, including Sergio Aragones, Jack nicholson, Sammy hagar, popeye, and Mel Brooks.

Only one way to rock

I started a series of artwork of Sammy Hagar era Van Halen after Eddie Van Halen passed away. His death hit harder than I'd expect. I'm always doing Hagar portraits, so I've accumulated a small series of artwork of Sammy Hagar. I was hoping to share my work with fellow Redheads (fans of the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar), but I don't see it happening. So, here's my tribute to Sammy Hagar and Van Halen

I had to make a couple Popeyes in the VOA outfits!!
The drawing below is a drawing I did in high school around 1994, 1995

Painting Red Rocker Sammy Hagar

Strange Brew

I'm currently working on this oil painting, 18x24, of Sammy Hagar based on a photo by fellow Redhead Pam Neavel. I approached this piece with the idea of making it loose and -style. It's only taken me 2-3 hours and I'm almost done.

I'll post the finished painting....when it's finished.

Fair Warning: Van Halen tribute art

I've been painting a David Lee Roth era Van Halen tribute portrait with the intention to sell. It's very close to done. It's oil on 20x16 canvas. I charge by size for up to 3 subjects. 16x20 drawing or painting is $320 plus shipping and handling.

I've worked on the painting since this photo was taken. Email me if interested. It would make a great gift for a Van Halen fan.

I decided to do some art that people might ACTUALLY like, so I painted a watercolor of Taylor Swift. Her name comes up constantly, so I'm guessing she's popular.

I might do some more work on it, I dunno.

Great Scott! Wait for iiitttt....

Today I met the legendary Christopher Lloyd at the Motor City Comic Con today and gave him the painting of him from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" I painted for him. He's been one of my favorite actors for decades.

I also met 2 of the main stars of "PSYCH" (one of my and my family's favorite shows), Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson, and had great conversations with both.

Due to circumstances, I didn't get to draw or paint anything for them before the convention, and the trip to the convention was very last minute, so I had nothing to gift them.

I drew these two drawings for Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson while at the convention in the food court between meeting Miss Lawson and the PSYCH panel.

She left before I could give her the drawings with Me. Omundson, buy I did get to meet him and have a great conversation (he liked my moustache) and gave him the drawings: one for each of them.

Casual Napping

I was inspired by the photo this painting is based on. Something about the image was so sweet and genuine, I had to paint her. It's an adorable little girl napping, and the bright pinks popping out got my attention.

5150 Time!!

This is my Van Halen tribute series, Which I began a few months after Eddie Van Halen died in 2020. I'm focusing on the Sammy Hagar era, as that is the time I got into music and the band (and I'm obsessed with Sammy because of VH). I'm not knocking the original lineup; I love Van Halen from 1977 to 1996, I just prefer Sammy. Some of the artwork here has been sold, but most I still have.

Feelin' Red

I've done a lot of artwork inspired by my favorite band and favorite singer/musician VAN HALEN and SAMMY HAGAR. After Eddie Van Halen's death, I was (I don't want to say inspired) to make art to celebrate the music and band VAN HALEN, specifically the Sammy Hagar lineup that I first got into and was inspired by. Below are examples of those pieces.

I'm feeling that itch again, but more towards Sammy related, but I don't know if I want to do VH era, Montrose, solo or current (with "The Circle"). Below are samples of work I've done of Sammy and for Sammy. I'll be seeing him in concert again this Summer, so I might do something for him (it's been 10 years, why not?).
