"My Heroes" series on Exhibit!

I don't remember if I've mentioned it here yet, but I was told a couple of months ago that I will be having an exhibit Mount Pleasant, Michigan and in June of 2024 of my heroes series. These are two pieces that I'm working on the charcoal is basically done, the painting of Sergio Aragones  is not done yet. This series is made up of sub sections of some of my heroes, including Sergio Aragones, Jack nicholson, Sammy hagar, popeye, and Mel Brooks.

Update

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here, but I was just recently informed that I will be having a solo exhibit in Mount Pleasant, Michigan at Art Reach Art Gallery June 5th through June 28th, I do believe. I can't remember when the reception is, but the focus of the exhibit is my My Heroes series. Here are two works in progress that I'm adding to "My Heroes" series. The black and white drawing is charcoal of Jack Nicholson in "The Last Detail", and the painting is an oil painting of cartoonist Sergio Aragones.

Oyl Painting

I just finished a new Popeye series painting of Olive Oyl. 8x10 canvas. It was a quickie painting. I'll have it for sale in my Etsy shop soon (it'll take a while for shipping: it has to dry).

Fair Warning: Van Halen tribute art

I've been painting a David Lee Roth era Van Halen tribute portrait with the intention to sell. It's very close to done. It's oil on 20x16 canvas. I charge by size for up to 3 subjects. 16x20 drawing or painting is $320 plus shipping and handling.

I've worked on the painting since this photo was taken. Email me if interested. It would make a great gift for a Van Halen fan.

Casual Napping

I was inspired by the photo this painting is based on. Something about the image was so sweet and genuine, I had to paint her. It's an adorable little girl napping, and the bright pinks popping out got my attention.

5150 Time!!

This is my Van Halen tribute series, Which I began a few months after Eddie Van Halen died in 2020. I'm focusing on the Sammy Hagar era, as that is the time I got into music and the band (and I'm obsessed with Sammy because of VH). I'm not knocking the original lineup; I love Van Halen from 1977 to 1996, I just prefer Sammy. Some of the artwork here has been sold, but most I still have.

Newest VH tribute painting

Since Eddie Van Halen's death October 2020, I've taken it harder than expected. I've been drawing and painting artwork of Van Halen (Sammy Hagar era) ever since, like I did in middle school when I started listening to music, and through high school until Sammy Hagar was fired.

This is the latest oil painting, based on an image from a free concert the band played in Texas around 1992.

This painting is up for sale. Contact me if interested.

White Wedding

This is only the 2nd time I've been hired to do a painting at a wedding. This was about 3 hours' work. Oil on canvas, 16"x20". I took it home to finish it by adding faces (too far away to see and they were only standing there for 15 minutes! Cut me some slack).

If you or anyone you know (in Michigan) would be interested in these services, please contact me at jasonnuttall@yahoo.com

White (paint) Wedding

I just made a painting live at a wedding. This is only the 2nd time I've done it. It's tough because although I get there early to paint the background and surroundings, I don't know where exactly the bride and groom will be until they're both at the altar reciting vows. That might take 15 minutes at the most! They're only up there for a few minutes so I have to rush! I take a couple photos to look at, but outdoor weddings are rough because of various lighting. This one was no different, as the sun was lighting them up from BEHIND them, so my camera basically picked up silhouettes.

Anyway, this is what I ended up with. I brought it home to finish it. I spent a total of 3  1/2 hours on it, with 15 of those minutes on the figures. 16"x20" oil painting.

It's Good To Be The King

It's been awhile since I've painted a portrait, and I decided to make one of comedy legend Mel Brooks.
His movies and appearances have been a staple in my life, shaping my sense of humor and just bringing me great escapist entertainment.
The painting isn't done yet, but here's the work in progress. (REMEMBER: I'm not done with it, so corrections need to be made!)

The more things change, the more they stay the same

The lastest in my Popeye series is completed, and I know it looks familiar. I re-created the "Popeye Family Picnic" painting, going larger, using palette knife, and zooming out to include more of the bodies. Hopefully, this one won't sell (I shouldn't say that, should I?). Below is the second painting ("Popeye Family Picnic #2) and the original painting ("Popeye Family Picnic").

New paintings, same ol' kids

I figured I'd post these images of the oil paintings I did of my son and daughter. The photos were from a couples years ago, but the paintings I started before this summer. These and many other new pieces of work are at the studio.

Sack the Hacking

Ok, this is the third time I've been hacked. I am getting very aggravated. But I will not quit!
I am close to getting a studio space! My problem has been no money, as business died right after Christmas and some of the promising prospects that were supposed to move me positively into the new year seems to have folded up and disappeared, in spite of my best efforts. If I do get this studio space, I will use it to draw, paint, possibly photo shoots, meetings and lessons. It will also be used to display work. It would be an open studio, as in people can come in whenever I'm there and see what I do. I'm a very open artist. I'm used to creating with an audience. I also hope to have a kind of an open house/grand opening. Nothing big, some Doritos and punch. The disadvantage to the space is that it's an upstairs office space with no handicap access. I will keep everyone up to date. Until then, here's a piece that I have very nearly finished.

It's done! (I think)

I might have a couple touch ups to do and sign it, but here is the completed oil painting I've done of Popeye, Swee' Pea and Olive Oyl. I enjoy this one a great deal. Let me know what you think.
