This week from NUTTALL ART

 I've been busy. I started and finished the Jack Nicholson graphite drawing in the last week (about 7 hours spread out in 3 days). It's 11"x15". I finished the Sammy Hagar Oil painting (18"x24") and the Sammy Hagar and the Circle oil painting (24"x18"). I also finished my graphite drawing of Sammy Hagar circa 1978 (24"x18").

A couple of these pieces will be for sale in my Etsy shop soon.

Also, Saturday, October 7, 2023 I will be drawing FREE Caricatures, cartoon and comic book characters at the Annual Rose City Fall Festival in Rose City, Michigan from 12-4.

October 28 I will be at the Clawson Toy and Comic Show from 10am-5pm in Clawson, Michigan selling original artwork, as well as drawing caricatures, cartoon and comic book characters.

It's with heavy heart that I announce that word is Jack Nicholson is retiring from acting. I have been a huge fan of him and his work since my dad introduced me to "The Shining" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and even before that with, of course, 1989's BATMAN.
 I realize he has been acting for 60 years, and owes us nothing, but it doesn't stop me from being heartbroken. If I had the talent and memory to act, it would be because of Jack Nicholson.
  I've been drawing him since I was a teenager, and will continue to do so. I have a great deal of respect for the man, and the legend.
 (I'm still a hopeless dreamer, as I still dream of meeting him and giving him a drawing or painting).

Why I Draw Jack

I guess I haven't posted the work from my "Jack Nicholson" series. I thought I had. Well, here it is.
I have been a huge fan of Jack Nicholson since my dad made me watch "The Shining" and "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" when I was around 12. Since then, I've been mesmerized by his look, his acting and his personality. I do feel that he is a fantastic actor. I may have been disappointed in some of his movies, but never his performances. He inspired me to want to act. Then my lack of talent and memorization of lines inspired me to stick to my artwork.
I did my final speech in Speech class in high school about Jack. I did a clay bust of him in college (I had to throw it away because I messed up the plaster cast and the clay would've just dried out). I want to portray him away from the typical images of him, or overused images. I will NOT portray the scene from "The Shining"! Or him in "A Few Good Men"! I feel they've become too cliche. Only if the role or scene means something to me will I portray it. I'm still working on the series, but here's a few pieces of said series. What do you think? Oh, and there are some pieces I haven't posted, and you'll have to come to the studio to see them!! So THERE!!!
