Is my art easily accessible here?

I'm still dreaming of my own studio, and there's a slim chance it may come true. It's an upstairs office space in downtown West Branch. I'm really excited, but leary about getting so excited. If I get the studio, I can't get supplies, and vice versa. I yam torned.

Art de Combat in my sights

I just signed on to compete at the ART de COMBAT at the Enchante Gallery in West Branch, Michigan on Saturday, May 30 from 4-7.
Here's the premise: artists come in, set up and at 4pm they begin creating a piece of artwork for the next three hours. During this time, the "audience" wanders around, watching the artists, ask questions and vote for their favorite piece. Also during this time, drinks and food are provided (beer, hors' d ouvres, wine, etc) for viewers and artists. At 7 pm the artists stop and the ballots are counted. There is also an auction for the artwork that's been created at the event. There's a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. Part of the auction proceeds of the evening goes to charity, I do believe, and the other part to the artists whose pieces are bought. This is the second art battle at Enchante, but the first I've ever participated in.
Now, here's where it gets interesting, at least for me. I don't know what I'm going to do! So, I'm asking people to give me suggestions (remember that I am, for the most part, a portrait artist). So if someone suggests Jack Nicholson, and you like that idea, let me know and the idea with the most 'votes' has a better chance of getting done. OR I can do a drawing or painting of a live model. If you come to the event, and want to be my model, let me know. Then you or someone you bring with you can bid on the artwork. Or if you want a portrait of someone, bring them to the Art de Combat and they can sit for me for 3 hours (breaks are acceptable, of course). Hope to swim in the Artist Pool

I am on Facebook. I kinda like it. I'm also on Myspace. I kinda like them both for different and similar reasons.
Anyway, I have started a group on Facebook, "West Branch Artist Pool" . This is a place for visual and performing artists of all ages to contact one another, see each others' works, and as stated in the title, a pool from which to find varieties of artists in the West Branch area. This can also be used as a tool for the West Branch Film Initiative, or any organization or individual looking for a certain kind of musician, painter, or actor. If you live in the West Branch area and are an artist or know of one, send them over! They don't have to be professionals. They could be students or hobbyists.

I'm a guest at Xcape Con

I will be a guest (or exhibitor) at Xcape Con in Flint!!
I'm planning on having my own table at the Xcape Con comic convention in Flint, Michigan Nov. 22-23. PLEASE if you're near the area, come by and say hi.Tix are only $8/person and FREE PARKING!!! Reply to this post if you're gonna make it (and especially if you're a fellow Grooper!) .

Remember those pictures I mentioned...?

I've been having alot of trouble today with my internet connection. I can't seem to stay online. AND I use dial-up, so everything moves slowly. I'm trying to post the artwork previously mentioned, but have been unable. I did get a pic of my new John Lennon drawing up on Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/nuttallart

I did, however, get the oil pastel of West Branch posted. It's a very rough drawing, done on location from the parking lot of Wal-Mart. I'm hoping to work on it more, or make it into an oil painting. Let me know what you think. jasonnuttall@yahoo.com

Oh, yeah. And there's the graphite drawing I started 8 years ago of Melissa in Irons Park. There's a glare from the camera, so the detail's not very clear. Sorry. This one also has alot of work that needs to be done.
