Con Artist

 

Starting in February of 2023, I will be part of a few comic book conventions in Michigan in the artist alley. At these conversations, or cons, I display my artwork for sale, and I draw caricatures, cartoon and comic book characters on the spot. 

The 1st one is the GREAT LAKES COMIC CON February 24-25 in Warren, Michigan.

The 2nd is March 4-5: the MIDLAND MALL COMIC CON at the Midland Mall in... Midland.

Next is the GRAND RAPIDS COMIC CON April 14-16 at the Kalamazoo Expo Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Last (for now) is the REALLY COOL COMIC CON August 5-6 in Flint, Michigan.

Each convention I'll have new artwork. The photo above is going to be at the Great Lakes Comic Con!  There is admission for all cons EXCEPT the Midland Mall Comic Con! I hope to see you at one!

 If I haven't posted about it, or you're not aware, I'm not just a portrait artist and overall realist artist, but I also draw CARICATURES!

Con in Midland

 This weekend, Saturday, March 5th, I'm going to be in the artist alley at the Midland Mall Comic Con at...well, the Midland Mall in Midland, Michigan.

 The convention runs March 5-6 but I'll only be there on the 5th. I will be drawing caricatures, cartoon and comic book sketches. I will also have original art on display and on sale.

Caricatures!!

 Just a friendly reminder: 

I do caricatures, comic book and cartoon character s sketches for all sorts of events (in Michigan), like weddings, open houses/grad parties, birthdays, etc ! etc

Silly Faces

As you may or may not know, I draw caricatures. I occasionally get commissioned to draw caricatures and sometimes hired to draw them at events. These are examples of commissioned drawings for Christmas. The colorized caricatures cost a little extra. The small bodies were requested by the client.

This is one of the last pieces I'm working on for FANTASTICON Lansing this weekend, April 29-30th. I'm selling ORIGINAL artwork by me, and doing caricatures, comic book and cartoon character sketches.
 This is an acrylic painting (not my cup o' tea), but the photo's fuzzy.

This one below is the SECOND watercolor portrait I've ever done.

I will also have 8 1/2 x 11 comic character sketches, oil paintings and graphite portraits. You can see more of what I've done at my Facebook group Nuttall Art.

Keep on chugging along

This is one of the pieces I've done for Artist Alley at the Lansing FANTASTICON April 29-30th. I'm planning on having black and white and color illustrations of super heroes and cartoon characters, b&w and color portraits of comic characters and others, and I'll be doing caricatures, cartoon and comic characters. Most of the work will be smaller than 11"x14", and therefore under $100 each. I will have larger work, as well.

Con Job

Alright,I'm trying a little more to get back into my art. I'm working on a commission painting, doing caricatures at various gigs, and at the end of April, I will be an artist at a comic convention called FANTASTICON. It's a chain of comic conventions that does different areas of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, I believe. I will be at the Lansing Fantasticon April 29-30th in the Lansing Bay Hotel & Convention Center.  I'll have some of my work on display and on sale, whilst, and at the same time, drawing caricatures, superhero and cartoon characters! Sergio Draws me!!!

This is what Sergio has to deal with when I come to the con to see him. But he's a very polite, generous man who did a sketch for me, and included my ugly mug in the drawing! He told me he's not very good at caricatures of people (WHAT???) like I can capture a person's likeness, but he drew me anyway (I made a JOKE about him not having to draw me, and he did it. I really didn't want him to, but I didn't argue).

Sergio!!!!

One of THE biggest highlights of my trip to the 2010 Motor City Comic Con- My hero, my inspiration, Sergio Aragones, drew ME!!! And he said he doesn't do well with caricatures! But he did one anyway. He's a very generous human being!

Commission Work

As any regular Nuttall Art readers may have noticed, I post alot about artwork for sale. What I don't mention enough is that I am also for hire for commission work. The images above are from the last gig I was hired for. They are oil pastel of grandkids of the woman who hired me. I'm actually very proud of these pieces, as they are the second and third oil pastels I've ever done.

I have also been hired to sketch at parties and do caricatures.
